Wimmera Hospice Care Trust is calling for applications for their nursing scholarship.
Hospice Trustee Dr John Nunn said the $1000 scholarship was launched last year to help a division one registered nurse in the area served by Wimmera Hospice Care to further their studies in palliative care.
The municipalities covered by the hospice service include Yarriambiack, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera and Horsham Rural City.
“This scholarship will be awarded to a registered nurse working in the Wimmera to attend the 5th Biennial Palliative Care Nurses Australia Conference in Sydney in April next year,” Dr Nunn said.
“The Wimmera Hospice Care Trust was established in 1991 to support the work of Wimmera Hospice Care with philanthropic funding, bequest and bereavement donations.
“One of the purposes of the Trust is to contribute to the palliative care education of health professionals across the Wimmera. Since established, the Trust has contributed to a number of nurses attending conferences over the years and last year we established the scholarship.”
For more information about the scholarship and how to apply, people can call Wimmera Hospice Care co-ordinator Melanie Hahne on 5381 9363.
Applications close December 20, 2013.
