The Move4Life fun run/walk is on again this year with the goal to get people moving and raise money for Wimmera Health Care Group.
Registrations are now open for the event, which will take place from Sawyer Park, Horsham on Sunday, November 10 from 8.40am.
Move4Life Committee chairperson Amelia Crafter said she was excited the event had become an annual fixture on Wimmera Health Care Group’s health promotion and fundraising calendar.
“It is really exciting because we had a really enthusiastic committee last year and most of them are back on deck. We have taken the feedback from last year and plan to make this year’s event bigger and better,” Mrs Crafter said.
“Some of the major changes include the addition of an 8km track for the more serious runner, bringing the event to earlier in the day to beat the heat and we have also cut the registration cost down.”
Mrs Crafter said this year there will be a 2km, 5km and 8km track to choose from, with walkers and runners welcome to complete any distance. The event prices have changed with adults $10, 16 and under and pensioners/concession holders $5 and families of up to 2 adults and 3 children $30.
This year participants will be given a Move4Life wristband when the sign in for the day and a special collapsible drink bottle when they cross the finish line.
“We are really excited for this year’s event and we hope to see a lot of people there,” Mrs Crafter said.
“We are particularly encouraging sporting groups such as football and netball clubs to come along on the day, it will be a good chance to do some off-season fitness and catch up as a club. We encourage them to wear their team colours and see which club can get the most people there.
“The main aim of Move4Life is to promote increasing the amount of activity we all do. Wimmera Health Care Group wants to increase the community’s knowledge about healthy lifestyles, so apart from the walk/run there will be Fuzion Fitness on site to do a group warm-up and other health based businesses are also welcome to have stalls at the event.”
Pre-registrations are encouraged. People can register by logging on to www.registernow.com.au and searching for the event. Alternatively people can log on to www.whcg.org.au go to the events page and follow the links. Registrations will also be taken on the day of the event.
